Squash Tops Vassar in CSA Championship Consolation Bracket

Rams Finish a Perfect 3-0 Against Vassar This Season

The Fordham squash team bounced back from a tough loss on Friday at the CSA Team Championship in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as the Rams topped Vassar College on Saturday, 8-1, in the consolation bracket of the Hawthorn Cup Division.
 
The Rams took care of business early on, taking the bottom three matches for a 3-0 lead.  Matthew Crowe started the day with a straight set win over Carly Scher at the #9 slot, 11-6, 11-2, 11-5, with James Potts taking the eighth slot match against Noah Kulick in four sets, 11-6, 6-11, 11-2, and 11-7.  Ross Garlick joined Crowe as a straight set winner, as he took down Ben Kurchin in the #7 slot, 11-8, 11-4, and 11-4.
 
The Rams then clinched the team victory, taking two of three matches in the middle slots.  Fordham won at the fifth slot with Jimmy Shinnick topping Alan Darer (11-9, 11-6, 11-7), as well as at the sixth slot with Carlos Ortiz taking down Tim Veit (11-5, 11-4, 11-1).
 
Fordham then finished off the team victory with wins at the first through third slots, as Kincade Webster, Jeremy Keller, and Paul Monaghan each won their match in straight sets.
 
The Rams will wrap up their stay at the CSA Team Championship on Sunday in the fifth place match of the Hawthorn Cup against Washington, beginning at 2:15 PM.
