Men’s Tennis Pulls Out Tight Win Over Bucknell

Rams Escape with 4-3 Win

After dropping its first three matches of the spring season, the Fordham men's tennis team came away with its first win on Saturday, taking a 4-3 decision from Bucknell at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
 
The win puts Fordham's overall record at 2-5 on the year.
 
The Rams opened the match by taking the doubles point.  At second doubles, Alastair Barnes and Mischa Koran defeated Bucknell's Jon DeFrancesch  and Scott Bernstein, 6-2, while at third doubles, J.J. Tauil and Max Peara topped Octavio Canibe and Jordan Lieb, 6-3.
 
In singles action, Fordham secured the team win with victories at second, third, and fourth singles.  Matt Najfeld defeated Bucknell's Aidan Lynch, 6-3, 7-5, at second singles with Barnes taking down Irwin Reibeisen, 6-2, 6-3, at third singles.  At the #4 spot, it was Tauil securing the Fordham win with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Canibe.
 
The Fordham men's tennis team will next be in action on February 23rd as they play at Temple, beginning at 9:00 AM.
