Rams Down Ole Miss, Fall to Kansas

Elise Fortier Picks Up Three RBIs in Victory Over Rebels

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Rams split a pair of decisions on Friday, topping Ole Miss in the morning before falling to Kansas in the afternoon.

Game One

Michele Daubman picked up her second complete game win of the year and Elise Fortier knocked her first round tripper of the year, leading Fordham to a 4-3 victory over Ole Miss on Friday morning.

Fortier knocked in three of Fordham's four runs on the morning, while Gabby Luety registered a sac fly to pick up the Rams' other RBI.

Fordham struck first in the early going, as Luety skied a fly ball to center, bringing home Sydney Canessa, who had walked to start off the contest.

Ole Miss got on the board in the top of the third, plating one run and tying the score at one.

After retiring the Rams in order in the bottom of the frame, the Rebels scored again in the top of the fourth, as London Ladner reached on an error before eventually scoring on a single to center field.

Down 2-1, the Rams registered a run in the bottom of the inning, as Fortier recorded her first home run of the season to tie the score.  Last year, Fortier set a new A-10 record with 20 dingers.

After Daubman blanked Ole Miss in the top of the fifth, Fortier came up big again in the bottom of the frame, knocking in Kayla Lombardo and Cora Ianiro with a two-RBI double, giving the Rams a 4-2 advantage.

Ole Miss scored one in the top of the sixth, but Daubman worked her way out of tough jam before retiring the Rebels in order to seal the game in the seventh.

Game Two

Despite jumping out to an early lead, Fordham suffered a rout at the hands of Kansas on Friday afternoon, falling to the Jayhawks by a score of 10-1 in five innings.

The Rams got on the board in the top of the first, as Canessa singled to start off the action and eventually reached home on a Luety RBI single.

Rachel Gillen held Kansas scoreless until the bottom of the third, when back-to-back RBI doubles propelled the Jayhawks to a 2-1 advantage.

After both teams failed to score in the fourth, the Jayhawks exploded in the bottom of the fifth, scoring eight runs on five hits to end the contest.

The Rams have a pair of games tomorrow, squaring off against DePaul at 1:30 PM before taking on the host school College of Charleston at 8:00 PM.
