Men’s Tennis Falls to NYIT, 5-2

Matty Nejfeld and Mischa Koran win singles matches

Bethpage, N.Y. (February 1, 2014) – The Fordham University men's tennis squad fell to NYIT, 5-2, in a match played at the Bethpage Courts on Saturday.
 
The Rams opened the match dropping the doubles point as Kuba Kowalski and Matty Nejfeld fell at first doubles to Julio Polido and Nico Auruccio, 8-6, and Alastair Barnes and Mischa Koran were bested at second doubles by Rafat Charkiewicz and Matei Selecky, 8-5. J.J. Taulki and Michael Puntillo also fell at third doubles, 8-5, to Nicolas Heintz and Nico Jubera.
 
Fordham picked up a pair of points in singles play as Nejfeld was victorious over Auruccio at second singles, 6-2 and 7-5, and Koran bested Charkiewicz at the fourth position, winning the first set, 6-3, dropping eth second, 6-4, but winning the third, 6-3.
 
Barnes almost won at third singles, wining eth first set, 7-5, but losing the second, 7-5, and the third, 6-2.
 
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, February 8, as they travel to Bronxville, N.Y., to face Concordia College at 3:00 PM.
