Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team played host to Vassar College on Saturday afternoon at the Lombardi Center Squash Courts. The Rams held tough in their home opener, posting a 9-0 win over Vassar.
With the win, Fordham improved to 3-2 on the season.
The Rams posted three-set sweeps in eight of the nine matches, led by
Kincade Webster in the top slot, as he defeated Vincent Mencotti, 12-10, 11-5, and 11-9.
Peter Yuen picked up a second slot win over Timothy Veit, 11-5, 11-5, and 11-5, while
Jeremy Keller won at the #3 slot over David Garfinkel, 11-5, 11-7, and 11-0.
Paul Monaghan,
Jimmy Shinnick, Alex La Versa,
John Lennon, and
Ross Garlick all won from the fourth slot to the eighth slot, respectively, with
Matthew Ieraci completing the sweep at the #9 slot. Ieraci rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Matt Fastman, 9-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, and 11-7.
The Fordham squash team will next be in action January 24-25, as they compete in an invitational tournament, hosted by the University of Virginia.
