Cambridge, Mass. (November 9, 2014) – The Fordham University water polo squad closed out play at the 2014 Northern Division Championship with a 13-11 loss to #17 St. Francis College in the third place game at MIT. The Rams will find out later today if they will receive a wild card berth in the CWPA Championship in two weeks.

St. Francis scored first 1:23 into the game but the Rams used a
Patrick Reyes tally to tie the game 30 seconds later. After a pair of Terrier goals,
R.J. Simmons and
Landon Kern scored a little over a minute apart for Fordham as the Rams tied the game at three.

The game was tied at five in the second quarter when St. Francis ran off four unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead at the half.

Simmons netted a goal for Fordham early in the third quarter to make it a 9-6 game but the Terriers scored three of the next five goals to take a 12-8 lead at the end of three.

After St. Francis increased its lead to five, 13-8 with 4:23 left, Simmons tallied the first of three straight Fordham goals, the other two coming rom
Andrew Gonzalez, as the Rams pulled to within two, 13-11, with 1:27 left.

Noah LeBeau made a save with 45 seconds left to give the Rams a chance to make it a one-goal game but the Rams couldn't get any closer.

Gonzalez finished with a team-high four goals for the Rams, and he had three ejections drawn, while Simmons added three goals.
Ethan Vandeventer had a goal and three ejections drawn while
Landon Kern,
Peter Bergum and Reyes each had a goal. LeBeau made seven saves in the Fordham net.
