Live VideoThe Fordham women's soccer team begins Atlantic 10 play this weekend, as the Rams host VCU on Friday and George Washington on Sunday.
Fordham (6-4-0) will look to snap a three-game skid on Friday, as the team ended non-conference play with a 2-1 loss to Columbia this past Sunday. VCU (4-3-3) enters Friday's contest unbeaten in their last four games at 3-0-1. The squad has scored eight goals in that stretch and posted three shutouts.
This is the third all-time meeting between Fordham and VCU. VCU has won both previous meetings in 2012 (6-0) and 2013 (1-0). Both of those contests were played in Richmond, Virginia. In last year's game, Jackie Ernst scored on a header in the seventh minute off a corner kick for the only goal of the game.
Friday's match will also be Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day at Jack Coffey Field.
George Washington (7-2-0) will play at La Salle before heading to the Bronx for the back end of a soccer doubleheader at Jack Coffey Field on Sunday. The Fordham men's soccer team will play Rhode Island in the first game at 1:00 PM. Free food and refreshments will be given out to Fordham students during the doubleheader.
The Colonials have won their last two contests, which included a non-conference 2-1 win over George Mason on September 27th.Â
This will be the 14th all-time meeting with the Colonials with Fordham holding a 6-5-2 edge in the series. Fordham has won the five of the last six meetings, including the last four.  The last match between the two schools was a 2-1 win by the Rams in 2012, where
Victoria Camaj scored in regulation, while
Kristina Maksuti notched the game-winner in overtime.
Live stats and video will be available for both games and updates can be found on the
Fordham women's soccer twitter page.
