Bronx, N.Y. – The old saying goes "Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose." For soccer matches, that can be amended to "Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you tie." That's what happened today as the Fordham women's soccer squad played to a 2-2 Atlantic 10 draw with La Salle University at Moglia Stadium.
With the tie, Fordham goes to 5-7-2 overall, 2-4-1 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle goes to 7-4-4 overall, 4-1-2 in the conference.
The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Senior
Ava Giudice stole a La Salle pass at midfield, dribbled down the left side and fed senior
Riley Carroll who managed to curve a shot around the oncoming La Salle keeper from ten yards.
The lead didn't last long as the Explorers tied the game at one five minutes later and then took a 2-1 lead in the 34
th minute.
Like the Fordham lead, the La Salle lead didn't last long. In the 40
th minute Giudice again sent a teammate in along on goal, this time it was junior
Julia Acosta. Acosta beat the La Salle keeper to the ball and looped the ball over her from 18 yards to knot the game at two.
Both teams had chances in the second half but Fordham junior keeper
Addison Green kept the Explorers off the board as did her La Sale counterpart.
