Bridget Orchard announced the team's 2015 schedule today. It features five tournaments, eight games against NCAA Tournament teams, and 18 home games for the two-time, defending Atlantic 10 champion, Fordham Rams.
Fordham will be striving for its fourth league crown in the last five years and third straight title at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be held May 6-10 at Massachusetts' Sortino Field in Amherst, Massachusetts.
The schedule features seven NCAA teams from a year ago, which includes Tennessee (playing twice), South Florida, Missouri, N.C. State, Lipscomb, Iona, and Hofstra.
The Rams begin the season in Arizona at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, February 6-8. Fordham will play some notable names, as the team starts with Nevada and Fresno State on day one, Pacific and Cal on day two, and Oregon State to wrap up the team's stay.
The following weekend, Fordham will be in Florida for the team's annual trip to one of the many USF tournaments from February 13-15. There, the Rams take on Tennessee twice, Florida Gulf Coast, St. John's, and USF.
A-10 Co-Pitcher of the Year Michele DaubmanFordham's third tournament of the spring will be the Furman Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina from February 20-22. The Rams play four games in this tournament against Hampton, Furman, Toledo and Gardner-Webb.
The Rams make a return trip to Florida, February 27
th through March 1
st, when the team will be in Orlando for the Citrus Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The teams and game times for this tournament have yet to be released.
After a weekend away from action, Fordham concludes tournament action in Raleigh, North Carolina for the N.C. State Tournament, March 13-15. This tournament features four NCAA teams from last year: Missouri, N.C. State, Lipscomb, and Fordham. The Rams will face each of those teams as well as Binghamton and Longwood.
After the tournaments, Fordham has six remaining non-conference dates, five of which are at home. The only road date is an April 22
nd match-up at Hofstra.
Fordham will host Iona in the home opener at Bahoshy Field on March 25
th, as well as Seton Hall (March 26
th), Syracuse (April 1), Siena for a doubleheader (April 7
th), and St. John's (April 29
th).
In conference play, the Atlantic 10 has adopted a 23-game schedule, which has seven three-game series and one two-game series.
Fordham will host three-game series against La Salle (March 28-29), Dayton (April 3-4), Saint Joseph's (April 18-19), and George Washington (April 25-26). On the road, the Rams will play Saint Louis (March 21-22), Massachusetts (April 11-12), and George Mason (May 2-3) in three-game series, while the St. Bonaventure series will be a doubleheader on April 15.
