Competing for the second straight day, the Fordham track & field team traveled up to New Haven, Connecticut, for the 32
nd Annual Yale Invitational. It was another good day for the Rams, especially in the relays, as Fordham posted three ECAC/IC4A qualifying times.
First, in the 4x800 relay event, the women's team of
Melissa Higgins,
Kristen Stuart,
Mara Lieberman, and
Titi Fagade qualified for the ECAC Championship by placing second in a time of 9:18.90. The men's team of Lester Taylor, Daniel Green, Ryan Polo, and Brian Walter followed suit by qualifying for the IC4A Championship, also taking second place in 7:49.69.
The final ECAC qualifier was the women's distance medley relay, as the team of Lieberman,
Averie Sheppard,
Danielle Rowe, and
Anisa Arsenault placed second in 12:02.49.
Aside from the relays, the Rams had a number of solid individual performances, led by Fagade, who was third in the women's 400 meter dash in 57.25 seconds. Fordham also had a pair of top ten finishes in the women's 3,000 meter run, as
Christina Vivinetto was sixth (10:39.73), while
Brianne Roche was ninth (10:41.79).
Over on the men's side, the 3,000 meter run had three Fordham runners in the top seven, led by Jonathan Annelli in third place with a time of 8:38.16, followed by Mike Turi in fifth (8:41.34), and Quincy O'Connor in seventh (8:53.67).
Fordham also had top ten runners in the 400 meter dash and the mile run. Sean Collins placed tenth overall in the 400 meters in 50.72 seconds, while Ryan Polo was fourth in the mile in 4:27.62.
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Saturday, January 18
th, when the Rams compete in the Saturday Night Shootout, held at the Armory Track & Field Center.
