After three difficult road contests to open the season, the Fordham women's soccer team opened its home schedule on Friday night against Army.  Thanks to a goal by Fordham's Kelsey Dougherty Howard and a 10-save night by Ally White in goal, the Rams played to a 1-1 draw with the Black Knights.

The result puts Fordham's record a 0-3-1, while Army moves to 2-2-1.

Army opened the scoring in the 11th minute, as Kimberly An fought through a Fordham defender to get a shot on Fordham starting goalkeeper Megan Fitzgerald.  Fitzgerald made the stop, by An continued on, picking up the rebound and putting it in for her third goal of the season.

Just 13 minutes later, Fordham found the equalizer off the foot of Dougherty Howard.  Nicol Natale sped across the Army defense, finding Dougherty Howard about 25 yards from goal.  Dougherty Howard booted the ball toward the upper 90, glancing off the crossbar and over the goal line for her first tally of the year.

The Rams almost took the lead just 2:30 later, as the Army goalkeeper was caught out of the net with the ball on Mary Solimine's foot in front of an empty goal, but her shot sailed high, keeping the game tied.

In the second half, Ally White took over in goal for Fordham and was kept busy by the Army offense.  The Black Knights totaled 13 shots in the second half, but were kept off the scoreboard as White registered seven saves to push the game into overtime.

In the extra 20 minutes, White added three more saves to her total, while Jordan Cassalia of Army had one, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 8th, as the Rams host Iona at 1:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
