Fordham’s Shanna Heaney Named Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Freshman earns first A-10 weekly honor, leads Rams to title at C.W. Post Invitational

Fordham University's Shanna Heaney (Hampton Bays, N.Y. / Hampton Bays) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office. Awards were based off performances from September 9-15.
 
Heaney, a freshman, broke the course record this past weekend at the C.W. Post Invitational hosted by Long Island University, with a time of 18:09.22 over the 5K course, finishing in second place overall. Heaney's winning performance broke the previous course record set in 2010 by Fordham's Kerri Gallagher.
 
The Fordham cross country teams will split up next weekend, as half the team with compete at the Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park, while the other half will travel to Fairfield for the Leeber Invitational.  Both meets will be held on Saturday, September 21st.
