Fordham Football to Hold Second Lift for Life Fundraiser

Rams to end summer conditioning program by raising funds for Uplifting Athletes

As the Fordham University football squad's summer conditioning program draws to a close, the Rams will once again use the session to raise money and awareness for extra renal rhabdoid tumors through their Uplifting Athletes chapter.

Fordham will hold its private lift Wednesday, July 24 in the morning inside the Walsh Athletic Training Facility.

The Rams' chapter, one of 21 NCAA college football programs nationwide aligned with Uplifting Athletes, raises money and awareness for extra renal rhabdoid tumors. They selected this rare disease in honor of Ty Campbell, a young boy the Rams adopted in 2011. Ty passed away during the 2012 football season.

This will be the third fundraiser for the Fordham Chapter in support of renal rhabdoid tumors research. The Rams held a series of Gate Takes during the 2012 season and raised nearly $2,000.

About Uplifting Athletes

Uplifting Athletes is a full service national nonprofit organization aligning college football with rare diseases and raising them as a national priority through research, outreach, education and advocacy. What makes Uplifting Athletes unique is that our university chapters are run by current football student-athletes, providing them with an opportunity to gain management and leadership skills while learning how to leverage their assets and abilities to make a positive and lasting impact. Each chapter adopts one out of approximately 7,000 rare diseases (such as ALS, Aplastic Anemia, CMT, cystic fibrosis, Ehlers-Danlos, Ewing's Sarcoma, Kidney Cancer, Leukemia, MS, Neimann Pick Type-C, Neuroblastoma, pancreatic cancer, etc.).  For more information about Uplifting Athletes, visitwww.upliftingathletes.org.
