Fordham University's Murphy Field athletic complex, including the Bahoshy Softball Field, is undergoing a renovation this summer with the installation of a new playing surface by The LandTek Group. But the Rams won't let the old field go to waste as the Bahoshy infield clay will be donated to a local youth program affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Murphy Field is in the process of receiving a new FieldTurfTM playing field and the Bahoshy Softball Field is receiving a new clay infield. The old clay infield is being donated to a youth program in Far Rockaway who saw its playing field destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
Murphy Field, named for Cornelius Murphy who died as a result of injuries suffered during the 1931 Fordham-Bucknell football game, is utilized by the Fordham football, men's soccer and women's soccer squads, as well as by the school's intramural and club sports programs.
