June 24, 2013 - Des Moines, Iowa. - Former Fordham University track star Kerri Gallagher competed in the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, where she finished fifth in the 1500m on Saturday.
Running for the Pacers/New Balance club, Gallagher qualified for the championship race by taking fifth in her heat in 4:12.58 on Thursday. In the finals on Saturday, Gallagher again placed fifth in 4:30.56, just 0.47 seconds behind fourth place finisher Shannon Rowbury of Nike, and just 1.94 seconds behind the winner, Treniere Moser of the Nike club (4:28.62).
Gallagher closed out her Fordham career at the 2011 NCAA East Regionals where she took eighth in her heat of the 1500m in a time of 4:26.52, just missing qualifying for the quarterfinals by 1.13 seconds.
The 2011 Hobbes Family Award winner as Fordham's top female athlete, Gallagher served as team captain for both the track and field and cross country teams that season. Indoors, Gallagher won two events and set two Atlantic 10 meet records at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, winning the 1000m and mile to earn First Team All-Conference honors in each and set meet records in both. Her winning time in the mile run of 4:48.60 broke the old conference mark of 4:49.71 by La Salle's Toniann Razzi in 2000 while her time in the 1000m of 2:51.43 snapped the 2006 A-10 record of 2:52.79, held by La Salle's Elizabeth Geiger. Gallagher also won the 800m at the 2011 Metropolitan Championship, breaking her own school record and qualifying for the ECAC Championship in the 800m, 1000m and mile while twice being named A-10 Performer of the Week
In the spring, Gallagher took second in the 1,500 meters at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships with a time of 4:25.32 to receive Second Team All-Conference honors. She also won the 1500m at the Raleigh Relays with one of the top women's 1500m times in the country (4:26.34), the second fastest women's 1500m time in Fordham history, and placed 12th in the 1500m at the ECAC Championship. She also won the 800m and the 1500m at the 2011 Metropolitan Championships.
During the fall of 2010, she was one of the top cross country runners for the Rams, winning three races and finishing 12th at the ECAC championships and 28th at the Atlantic 10 championship.
Gallagher was also named team MVP for the cross country and indoor track and field teams in 2010-2011.
