May 15, 2013 - Philadelphia, Pa. - The Fordham University rowing squad traveled down to Philadelphia last weekend to compete in the 2013 Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River where the Lightweight 4 came up just short of a medal.
The Lightweight 4 qualified for the finals by placing second in its heat. Brock won the race in 7:44.750 with the Rams in second at 7:58.642, ahead of Liberty, Geneseo and Stetson.
In the finals, the Rams were edged out of a medal at the finish, placing fourth. Brock again won the race followed by Penn State and Oklahoma City, who beat the Rams to the line by just 0.37 seconds.
The Varsity 8 placed third in its heat to advance to the semifinals where it placed sixth. In the heat, the Rams crossed the line in 7:08.465, ahead of Army, La Salle and Jacksonville and just behind Colgate and Pittsburgh.
In the semifinals, Fordham clocked a 7:22.166 to finish behind Temple, Duquesne, Drexel, Connecticut and Marist.
The JV 8 just missed qualifying for the finals, taking third in its heat (the top two from each heat advanced). The Fordham JV 8 placed third in 7:06.765, behind Bucknell and Temple, but in front of San Diego State, Marist and Pittsburgh.
The Varsity 4 placed sixth in its heat in 8:02.342. The race was won by Robert Morris, followed by Temple, Florida, Saint Joseph's, Lafayette and Fordham
The Rams also competed in the Freshmen 4, placing fourth in 8:20.701. Fairfield won the heat followed by George Mason, Grand Valley, Fordham and Army.
