Women's 4x800 Relay wins ECAC Championship, Breaks School Record

Results

May 12, 2013 - Princeton, N.J. - The Fordham women's 4x800 relay has been enjoying a solid 2013 spring season and they capped it today as Melissa Higgins, Kristen Stuart, Mara Lieberman and Titi Fagade teamed up to win the ECAC Championship in school record time at Princeton University.

On the men's side, Sean Atkinson placed fourth in the 400m hurdles.

The Ram relay, which placed third in the preliminaries on Saturday, won the race easily on Sunday in a school-record time of 8:46.25, well ahead of second place Princeton who clocked an 8:50.60 finish. The winning time broke the former Fordham school record set of 8:48.06 by the same foursome earlier this year at the Penn Relays.

After placing eighth in the 400m hurdles preliminaries on Saturday, Atkinson came back to take fourth in the finals in a time of 52.71, just 0.88 seconds behind Andrew Anderson, the third-place finisher from Cornell. Coppin State's Jabri Victorian won the race in a time of 51.30 with Matthew Curtis from Rutgers-Camden placing second in 52.35.

In team scoring, the Fordham women tied for 32nd of 54 teams scoring while the men tied for 36th of 48 teams scoring.
