Williamsburg, Pa. - (April 5, 2013) - The Fordham track & field team was back in action on Friday, as the Rams began a two-day stint at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. After day one, the Fordham men are sixth out of 28 teams with 23 points, while the women are 17th out of 24 teams with six points.
Fordham's best performances were highlighted by junior David Fajoyomi winning the high jump competition. He cleared 6' 8 1/4" to win the event and qualify for the IC4A Championship, while fellow junior Sam Houston also scored in the event, taking seventh with a height of 6' 4 1/4". Houston also scored for Fordham in the long jump competition, placing eighth with a mark of 22' 6 1/4".
The Rams also scored in the men's 800 meter run and the 400 meter hurdles. Kevin Fitzgerald placed fourth in the 800 meters in an IC4A qualifying time of 1:51.24, while Sean Collins was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles, posting an IC4A qualifying time of 53.33 seconds.
Fordham also had two additional season-best performances on the men's side, as Sean Atkinson placed 15th in the 400 meter dash in a season-best time of 49.79 seconds, while Jonathan Annelli recorded his best time of the season in the 3000 meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:29.92, good for 18th overall.
On the women's side, Fordham scored in two events, led by sophomore Kristen Stuart, as she took fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:01.98, while Titi Fagade scored in the 400 meter dash by placing ninth in 56.63 seconds.
Fordham also added excellent performances in the non-scoring 1,500 meter run and the 5,000 meter run. Mara Lieberman won the University division of the 1,500 meter run in a season-best time of 4:42.02, while Christina Vivinetto placed ninth in 4:52.58. In the 5,000 meter run, Anisa Arsenault clocked in at 17:00.01, good for 19th overall and an ECAC qualifier.
