Bronx, N.Y. - (Feb. 1, 2013) - Select members of the Fordham track & field team started a two-day stint at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, held at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York. Fordham had competitors in both the men's and women's 400 meter dash on day one, as well as in the women's distance medley relay.
Junior Titi Fagade got the meet started in style, as she ran a school record time of 56.79 seconds, which placed her 20th out of 104 runners and qualified her for the ECAC Championship in that event. She broke the 2005 mark of 56.84 seconds, set by Maureen Zivic.
Senior Sean Atkinson then stepped to the line in the men's 400 meter dash, taking ninth overall in a time of 48.90 seconds.
The Rams' final entry was in the women's distance medley relay, as Mara Lieberman, Melissa Higgins, Kristen Stuart and Anisa Arsenault took to the track. The group would finish 15th overall in an ECAC qualifying time of 12:06.71.
Fordham concludes action at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, as both Fagade and John Cosgrove will compete in the 800 meter run. The rest of the Rams will travel to Rhode Island for the Charles Torpey Invitational, starting at 10:00 AM.
