Rowing Competes at Head of the West Point

Rams win three of four races

West Point, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's rowing squad got its fall season off to a productive start, winning three of four races at the Head of the West Point Regatta on October 5 on the Hudson River over a 5K race course.
 
The Rams took the Varsity 8 race in a time of 17:27, easily beating runner-up Marist to the line. The Fordham B shell took third in 18:34, followed by the Marist B boat, Iona A, Vassar and the Army B entry.
 
In the Varsity 4, the Rams covered the course in 19:21, again defeating Marist by open water. The Fordham B boat took third in 19:58, followed by Army A, Army B, Marist B and Iona.
 
In the Novice 4, Fordham defeated Army A by over a minute, crossing the line in 21:02 to 22:03 for the Army shell. Iona placed third and Army B was fourth.
 
In the Novice 8, Fordham was beaten to the finish by Army as the Black Knights won the race in 19:03 with the Rams right behind in 19:23. Sara Lawrence took third in the event.
 
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 12, as they compete in the Head of the Housatonic Regatta in Shelton, Conn.
