Michael Nebrich Earns Player of the Week Honors

Junior quarterback recognized for leading Rams to win over #10 Lehigh

Bronx, N.Y. (October 7, 2013) - Fordham University junior quarterback Mike Nebrich was named National Performer and National Quarterback of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), National Co-Offensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network and Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week by the league office for his performance in Fordham's win over nationally ranked Lehigh on Saturday. Additionally, junior wide receiver Sam Ajala was named honorable mention wide receiver performer of the week by the CFPA and College Sports Madness Patriot League offensive player of the week.
 
In a 52-34 win over #10/13 Lehigh University on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, Nebrich completed 26 of 36 passes for a career-high 384 yards and four touchdowns (tying his career-best). He also ran 13 times for 56 net yards and one score. Nebrich's 384 passing yards is the tenth best single game total in school history and is the game was his third 300-yard passing game of the year.
 
Nebrich, who leads the NCAA FCS in completion percentage and is eighth in completions per game, has completed 155 of 211 passes for 1,761 yards and 16 touchdowns this fall while also gaining 342 yards on 88 carries with four scores. He is third in the NCAA FCS in passing touchdowns, fourth in passing yards/game (293.5), sixth in passing efficiency (167.64) and sixth in total offense per game (350.5).
 
Sam Ajala
Ajala hauled in seven of Nebrich's passes for a career-high 177 yards and three touchdowns. He caught scoring strikes of 25, 40 and 62 yards.
 
On the year, Ajala has 34 receptions for 578 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the team in receiving yards and is tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions. Ajala is sixth in the NCAA FCS in touchdown receptions, seventh in total receiving yards and 18th in receiving yards/game (96.3).
 
The Rams, ranked ninth in the latest NCAA FCS Coaches poll and tenth in the current Sports Network NCAA FCS poll, is off to a 6-0 start for the first time since 1988. Fordham is one of seven unbeaten teams in the NCAA FCS, one of three with six wins. The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 12, as they travel to Washington, D.C., to face the Georgetown University Hoyas on Multisport Field at 1:00 p.m.
