Water Polo Ends West Coast Trip with 3-3 Mark

Rams Close Out Road Trip with 15-10 Win at La Verne

The Fordham water polo team closed out its west coast swing with two matches on Saturday at the Gary Troyer Tournament in Claremont, California.  In the first game Saturday, Fordham fell to 18th-ranked Redlands, while defeating La Verne, 15-10.
 
In game one, the 18th-ranked Redlands Bulldogs outscored Fordham 5-2 in the second half, as the Bulldogs pulled out an 11-9 win.
 
Fordham took a 4-2 lead after the first quarter on the strength of three goals by Ori Raz.  Redlands pulled ahead in the second quarter at 6-5, but goals by Nicholas Allen and Eric Minowitz regained the lead for Fordham at 7-6.
 
Redlands netted the only two goals of the third quarter to take a one-goal lead, 8-7, and closed out the scoring with a 3-2 edge in the fourth quarter.
 
For Fordham, Raz ended the match with three goals, while Allen and Patrick Lenihan each had two.  Minowitz and Mike Hay rounded out the Fordham scoring.  In net, Noah LeBeau had 13 saves.
 
In game two, Fordham never relinquished the lead in a 15-10 win at LaVerne.
 
The Rams started the match with a five-goal outburst in the first quarter, and increased the lead to 12-5 by the end of three quarters.
 
For Fordham, Allen led the way with four markers, while Ben Clinkinbeard and Raz each had two.  Andrew Gonzalez, Davis DeFontes, Patrick Reyes, Minowitz, Lenihan, Hay, and Bergum finished the scoring with one goal apiece.  In net, LeBeau had five saves in three quarters of work with Eric Mullery (three saves) and Patrick Harrigan (one save) splitting the fourth quarter.
 
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on October 9th, when the Rams play at St. Francis (NY) College, beginning at 7:30 PM.
