Brooklyn, N.Y. - In the first meeting between Fordham and St. Francis, it was a defensive struggle. Thursday night's match looked to be headed the same way with Fordham leading 3-1 at the half. However, the 16
th-ranked Terriers scored 10 goals in the second half to come away with the 11-5 win in Brooklyn.
The match began with Fordham leading 2-0 after the first quarter with
Nicholas Allen netting a pair of goals for the Rams.
In the second quarter, the Terriers cut the lead in half, but Fordham regained a two-goal lead in the final minute, when
R.J. Simmons scored putting the score at 3-1 at the half.
The Terriers then woke up scoring eight consecutive goals to start the second half and take a 9-3 lead. St. Francis then added two more markers in the final frame for the 11-5 win.
For Fordham, Allen led the way with three goals, while Simmons had two. In net,
Noah LeBeau made 10 saves over 3.5 quarters, while
Eric Mullery finished up with one save over the final minutes of play.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Saturday, November 2
nd, when the Rams play at MIT, beginning at 2:30 PM.
