Bronx, N.Y. (October 29, 2013) - The Fordham University football squad will be fighting for more than the Ram-Crusader Cup in the battle with Holy Cross on Saturday on Jack Coffey Field, the Rams will also be fighting to raise funds for
Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization in the United States that sponsors autism research and conducts awareness and outreach activities aimed at families, governments, and the public.
Â
The Rams will have a table at the main entrance to Coffey Field to accept donations for Autism Speaks and will wear Autism Speaks decals on their helmets as well as wear blue shoelaces to draw attention to the charity.
Â
Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Their longtime friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
