Cross Country Competes at Princeton Invitational

Rams Finish 12th & 14th in the Championship Races

The Fordham cross country teams had their final tune-up prior to the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational, held at West Windsor Fields.  In the Championship races, the Fordham men were 14th out 30 teams, while the women were 12th out of 25 teams.
 
The day began with a pair of Open Races with the Fordham men taking fifth out of 12 teams, while the women were sixth out of 10 teams.
 
In the men's open race, Joe Hartnett was the Rams' first finisher taking 11th overall in 25:45 over the 8K course.  Ryan McGann was the next runner across in 40th place in 26:32, followed by Devin Rocks in 42nd (26:34), Yehia Fahmy in 46th (26:38), Randall Turner in 53rd (26:46), Peter Strom in 60th (26:54), Jake Duckworth in 66th (27:05), James Doran in 78th (27:20), William Slattery in 82nd (27:28), Daniel Green in 99th (28:01), and John Blake in 107th (28:33).
 
In the women's open race, Melanie Notarstefano was Fordham's top runner in 20th place, finishing the 6K course in 24:14.  Amanda Foggia and Shannon McKenna were the next two across the line in 35th and 36th place respectively in 24:59, followed by Danielle Rowe (39th – 25:03), Claire McGonigle (58th – 26:33), Anna Straughan (74th – 27:53), and Christine Ulto (89th - 33:08).
 
The Championship races were next with Villanova taking the men's title with 23 points in the 30-team field.  Fordham took 14th with 479 points.
 
Individually, Fordham's top performer for the second straight week was Mike Turi, who placed 63rd overall in a loaded field of runners at 25:00.  Brian Walter was the next Ram across the line in 75th in 25:08, followed by Mike Belgiovine in 78th at 25:09. Kevin Harvey was up next in 138th (25:37) with Tim Kazanjian (140th – 25:38), Jonathan Annelli (159th – 25:47), Patrick Burke (167th – 25:52), and Adam Schwenzfeier (173rd – 25:56) also competing for the Maroon and White.
 
In the women's championship, Duquesne took first place with 47 points, while Fordham was 12th out of the 25 teams with 337.
 
Individually, Anisa Arsenault was once again the Rams' top runner in 28th overall in 22:23 over the 6K course.  Christina Vivinetto continued her strong push this season, placing 45th in 22:41, followed by Sarah Glockenmeier in 81st (23:13), Kerry Sorenson in 92nd (23:20), Ariana Bottalico in 107th (23:36), Brianne Roche in 120th (23:45), Jillian Brooks in 138th (23:56), and Melissa Higgins in 157th (24:28).
 
The Rams will now head to the Atlantic 10 Championship on November 2nd, held at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Virginia.
