Michael Nebrich and Stephen Hodge Honored By Patriot League

Nebrich Named Offensive Player of the Week, Hodge Defensive POW for Top-Ten Ranked Rams

Patriot League Release | CFPA Release | College Sports Madness Release

Bronx, N.Y. (October 14, 2013) - Fordham University junior quarterback Mike Nebrich and junior linebacker Stephen Hodge were honored by the Patriot League today being named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their performances in the Rams' win at Georgetown on Saturday. Additionally, Hodge was named College Sports Madness Patriot League defensive player of the week and junior receiver Tebucky Jones and junior defensive back Jordan Chapman were named honorable mention College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) wide receiver and defensive back performers of the week.

The win moved the Rams up to eighth in both the latest NCAA FCS Coaches poll and Sports Network NCAA FCS poll, the highest ranking ever for a Fordham squad. The Rams are off to a 7-0 start for the first time since 1930 and are one of five unbeaten teams in the NCAA FCS, one of two with seven wins.

Mike Nebrich
In a 34-12 win over Georgetown University on Multi-Sport Field on Saturday, Nebrich completed 35 of 45 passes for a career-high 405 yards and a touchdown and also rushed 12 times for 51 net yards and one score. The 400-yard passing game is just the ninth in Fordham history as Nebrich joins John Skelton (4), Ryan Higgins (2), Gary Brennan (1) and current head coach Joe Moorhead (1) in recording 400-yard games as a Ram. The 405 passing yards brings Nebrich's season total to 2,166, the tenth best single season in school history while his 190 completions so far is already ninth best.

Nebrich completed his first 20 pass attempts in the game, setting a Patriot League record for most consecutive completions and tying the NCAA FCS record for most consecutive completions to open a game. The former Patriot League record was 18, set by Bucknell's Scott Auchenbach in 1989, while Austin Moherman of Missouri State set the NCAA FCS record in 2000 and it was matched by Brown's Kyle Slager in 2002.

Nebrich, who leads the NCAA FCS in completion percentage (.742) and is ninth in completions per game (27.14), has completed 190 of 256 passes for 2,166 yards and 17 touchdowns this fall while also gaining 393 yards on 100 carries with five scores. He is third in the NCAA FCS in total offense per game (365.6), fourth in passing touchdowns, eighth in passing yards/game (309.4) and seventh in passing efficiency (166.42).

Hodge recorded a career-high 14 tackles in the win at Georgetown, ten solo, including one sack. He led a Fordham defense that limited the Hoyas to just 293 yards of total offense and surrendered just one touchdown, which came with less than two minutes left in the game.

Stephen Hodge
On the year, Hodge leads the Rams with 61 total tackles, 43 solo, including four sacks and five for loss. He also has three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and has forced and recovered a fumble. Hodge leads the Patriot League and is 17th in the NCAA FCS in solo tackles/game (6.1) and is third in the league and 69th in the NCAA FCS in tackles/game (8.6)

Jones hauled in 12 of Nebrich's passes for a career-high 182 yards on Saturday, bringing his season totals to 50 receptions for 601 yards. He leads the team with 60 receptions and is second in receiving yards. Jones is also second in the Patriot League and seventh in the NCAA FCS in receptions/game (7.1) and third in the league and 14th in the NCAA FCS in total receiving yards.

Chapman made four stops at Georgetown on Saturday, three solo, and he picked off a pass and returned it 29 yards for a score, Fordham's second pick-six of the season.

On the season, Chapman has 35 total tackles, 30 solo, and he has two interceptions and five pass breakups.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 19, as they travel to New Haven, Conn., to face the Yale University Bulldogs in the Yale Bowl at 12:00 p.m.
