Track & Field Opens Competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational

Princeton, N.J. - (April 20, 2012) - On Friday, select members of the Fordham track & field team ran in the elite sections of the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University. Fordham had a pair of runners in the women's 800 meter run, as well as competitors in the men's 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and 3,000 meter steeplechase.

Fordham's competitors began in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase, as Brian Riley posted a time of 9:21.75 to finish 33rd out of 41 runners.

The Rams' duo of Titi Fagade and Kelly Connolly were up next in the women's 800 meter run. Fagade was the top finisher, taking 18th place in a career- and season-best time of 2:10.98, just missing an ECAC qualifying time by .04 seconds. Connolly took 41st overall out of the 60 runner field, posting a career-best time of 2:14.85.

Next up was senior Kevin Fitzgerald in the men's 1,500 meter run. He did not disappoint, earning the best finish of the night, taking 16th out of 80 runners in 3:47.55.

Fordham's final competitor was Julian Saad, who took 65th out of 99 runners in the 5,000 meter run in 14:51.87.

Competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational will conclude on Saturday with open events, beginning at 10:00 AM.
