Nov. 9, 2012 - Madison, Conn. - Competing in brisk conditions in Madison, Connecticut, the Fordham cross country teams made their way to the 2012 NCAA Northeast XC Regional on Friday. The Fordham men placed 25th out of 34 teams, while the women were 26th out of 37 teams.
In the men's competition, Iona captured the Northeast title with a score of 45 points, placing five runners in the top 20 individually. Iona's Mitch Goose was the individual title winner, clocking in at 30:04.5 over the 10K course.
Fordham scored 653 points to place the team in 25th. Individually, Michael Belgiovine was the lone Ram to crack the top 100, as he finished 85th in a time of 32:07.9. Nick Synan was the next finisher in 124th place in 32:46.7, followed by Mike Turi in 131st (32:50.7). Other Rams competing at the regional were Kevin Harvey (148th - 33:12.7), Jonathan Annelli (165th - 33:33.3), and Quincy O'Connor (186th - 33:54.9).
In the women's competition, Providence garnered the top spot with a score of 46 points with four runners in the top ten. Individually, it was Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino crossing the line first in 19:51.1 over the 6K course.
The Rams scored 748 points to finish in 26th place. Fordham's top finisher was Anisa Arsenault, who placed 127th overall in 22:25.1, followed by Mara Lieberman in 130th place (22:27.9). Danielle Drummond was next across the line in 151st (22:51.5) with Melissa Higgins (169th - 23:10.9), Suzy Sikorski (171st - 23:11.1), Christina Vivinetto (185th - 23:20.5), and Kerry Sorenson (229th - 24:12.8) rounding out the Fordham's entries.
The Fordham cross country team will conclude its 2012 season on Saturday, November 17th, as the Rams compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships, held at Van Cortlandt Park.
