Williamsburg, Va. - (Oct. 13, 2012) - Members of the Fordham cross country team made their way to Williamsburg, Virginia on Saturday for the Tribe Open, posting strong finishes in both races. The Fordham men's team won the team title with senior Nick Synan winning the individual race, while the women's team was third out of seven teams.
Fordham won the men's team title with a score of 17 points, as the Rams placed six runners in the top eight finishers. Synan won the 8K race in a time of 25:29.4, while teammates Mike Turi (25:39.4) and Jonathan Annelli (25:50.3) were right behind him in second and third place, respectively.
The Rams' Kevin Harvey also placed in the top five, taking fifth in 25:54.9 with Quincy O'Connor placing seventh (26:14.6), Ryan Polo in eighth (26:17.0), and Ben Delikat in 15th (27:30.9).
In the women's 6K race, William & Mary won the team title with 33 points, followed by Loyola (Md.) with 59 and Fordham with 66.
Loyola's Jackie D'Antonio won the individual race in a time of 21:46.1, while UMES' Petra Kubesova was second in 21:50.9.
Fordham was led by
Anisa Arsenault, who placed fifth in a time of 22:18.7, while
Suzy Sikorski was 11th in 22:58.9.
Melissa Higgins also finished in the top 15, taking 14th in 23:04.9 with
Christina Vivinetto placing 21st in 23:25.2.
Other Fordham competitors were
Mara Lieberman (24th - 23:31.6),
Danielle Drummond (26th - 23:38.6), and
Sarah Glockenmeier (35th - 24:06.1).
The rest of the Fordham cross country team will be in action on Sunday, October 14th, as the Rams compete in the St. John's Fall Festival at Cunningham Park in Queens.
