Brookville, N.Y. - (Sept. 17, 2011) - Fresh off their strong showing last week, the Fordham cross country teams were back at work on Saturday at the C.W. Post Invitational in Brookville, New York. The Rams were impressive again, capturing both the men's and women's team titles, while sophomore
Anisa Arsenault won the women's 5K race.
The Fordham women finished first out of 14 teams, scoring 21 points with seven runners in the top ten. The Rams also had eight women under the 20-minute mark, compared to four last week.
Arsenault paced the 120 runners by taking first in 18:41.76, becoming the second straight Fordham female runner to win the C.W. Post Invitational, following
Kerri Gallagher's win last season.
Following Arsenault,
Sarah Glockenmeier placed fourth in 19:12.33 with
Emily Osman right behind her in fifth in 19:13.08. The Rams then had four straight runners come across the line for seventh to tenth place.
Danielle Drummond was the first of the group in 19:23.39, followed by
Ashley Davis (19:42.93),
Mara Lieberman (19:49.56), and
Nako Nakatsuka (19:49.56).
In the men's race, Fordham was first out of 12 teams with 32 points, with four finishers in the top ten. Kevin Harvey led the way in third place out of 122 runners, clocking in at 26:33.33, followed by Matt Collins in fourth (26:37.77) and Ryan Polo in fifth (26:38.22). Rich Grandelli was the final Ram in the top ten, placing seventh in 26:49.65.
Other scorers for Fordham were William Slattery in 13th (27:14.69), Andrew Roddin in 14th (27:16.34), and Tim Kazanjian in 17th (27:28.36).
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, September 24th, as the team will split up to compete at both the Leeber Invitational, hosted by Fairfield University, and the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College.
