Bronx, N.Y. - (Nov. 20, 2010) - The Fordham cross country teams closed out their 2010 season on Saturday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, hosted at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Rams took third place in the men's University Division, while the women were 10th in the University Division.
Temple won the men's University Division team title with 111 points with Connecticut just four points behind and Fordham finishing third with 130 points, two points ahead of Colgate and seven in front of fifth place Binghamton.
Temple's Mike May won the individual title, covering the 5 mile course in a time of 25:24.8, just ahead of Manhattan's Tobias Lundgren 925:27.8) and Rutgers' Nick Miehe (25:31.2). Eddie Penatar of Temple was fourth (25:33.1) while Colgate's Chris Johnson placed fifth (25:38.8).
The top Fordham finisher was Brian Riley, who placed eighth in a time of 25:56.1 while Kevin Fitzgerald was the second Ram across the line, finishing 24th in a time of 26:29.2.
Also scoring for the Rams were Julian Saad, who was 29th (26:32.9), Michael Belgiovine, who took 31st (26:36.0) and Brian Walter, who was 41st (26:49.7).
Other runners for the Fordham men were Nick Synan (46th - 26:56.6), Ryan Polo (54th - 27:03.7) and Sam Stuart (80th - 27:26.9).
On the women's side, Albany took the team competition with a score of 49, followed by Monmouth (99), Towson (104), St. John's (161) and Marist (179). Fordham placed tenth with a score of 307.
Individually, Sacred Heart's Kimberly DeLoreto won the race, covering the 5K course in a time of 18:01.6 with Kiersten Anderson of Marist taking second (18;10.3) and Ada Lauterbach third (18:21.6).
Anisa Arsenault was the first Ram across the line, placing tenth in a time of 18:32.2 while
Kerri Gallagher was close behind, taking 12th in a time of 18:42.2.
Also scoring for Fordham were
Ashley Davis, who finished 92nd (20:13.1),
Kerry Sorenson, who was 112th (20:27.9) and
Johanne Sterling, who took 115th (20:31.9).
Also racing for the Rams were
Nako Nakatsuka (126th - 20:39.7) and Christine Machado (136th - 20:49.1).
The Rams also had competitors in the Men's and Women's Coaches Race.
In the men's race, Rich Grandelli was the top Fordham finisher, placing 16th in 27:43.4 in the 5 mile race while Matt Collins and Tim Kazanjian were 18th (27:45.8) and 19th (27:47.6), respectively.
Other men competing in the race were Patrick Burke (29th - 28:16.8), Conor O'Malley (30th - 28:21.9), Michael Walsh (36th - 28:32.0), Andrew Roddin (40th - 28:42.4), Christopher Chung (42nd - 28:47.4) and Devin Kelly (45th - 29:12.7).
In the women's 5K race
Christina Vivinetto was the first Fordham finisher, placing 12th in a time of 20:34.2, while
Jana Trenk was 16th in 20:48.0.
