Fairfield, Conn. - (Sept. 13, 2008) - The Fordham cross country teams competed at the Fairfield Invitational this weekend, finishing third on the women's side and second in the men's competition.
In the women's competition, Yale won the meet with a score of 24, followed by Rhode Island (65), Fordham (74), and Fairfield (76).
For Fordham,
Brigid Moriarty was the Rams' top finisher, placing third overall in a time of 19:05.36 over the 5K course.
Kerri Gallagher also finished in the top ten, taking eighth overall in 19:26.11. Other top performers were
Jacqueline Prevete in 22nd (20:27.70),
Susanne Hansen in 27th (20:48.50),
Bridget Carroll in 32nd (21:05.23),
Catalina Hallock in 34th (21:08.09), and
Mary LeSage in 39th (21:29.59).
In the men's competition, Yale won the team title with a score of 20 points, followed by Fordham (72) and Fairfield (109).
For Fordham, Clifton Hilario was Fordham's top performer over the 8K course in a time of 26:05, followed by Brian Riley in 14th place in 26:26. Other top performers were Kevin Fitzgerald in 17th (26:42), Tim Hartnett in 20th (26:52), Tom Papain in 22nd (27:01), Casey Barrett in 24th (27:08), and Ryan Campi in 25th (27:10).
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, September 27th as they compete in the Leeber Invitational in Fairfield, Connecticut.
