Boston, Mass. - (Feb. 15-17, 2008) - The Fordham squash team completed their 2007-08 season this past weekend at the Nine Man Intercollegiate Championship held in Boston, Massachusetts. The Rams went 1-2 at the championship, falling to Haverford and Virginia, while defeating Penn State.
The Rams opened the tournament with a 6-3 loss to Haverford. Fordham's Charles Kromholz and Tolga Suvar picked up wins in four sets, while Peter Slucky outlasted Mike Gelberg in five sets for a win.
The Rams then faced Virginia, falling by an 8-1 count. James Lechleitner picked up the lone win for Fordham, defeating Hailiu Yang in straight sets. Steve Sangiacomo almost picked up a second win, but dropped the fifth and deciding set to David Whelan.
Fordham closed out the championship with a 5-4 victory over Penn State. Kromholz and Lechleitner each picked up their second win of the tournament, while Sangiacomo, Steve Cinquino, and Jason Sherriff closed out the victory with their first win of the championship.
