Bronx, N.Y. - (Nov. 3, 2007) - In preparation for the NCAA District Qualifier in Boston next week, the Fordham cross country teams competed at the Bad Boy IV Invitational on Saturday, held at Van Cortlandt Park. The open tune-up race was good for the Rams, as the race not only featured college teams, but also a number of cross country club teams.
Overall, the men placed eighth, while the women were fifth.
On the men's side,
Brian Horowitz was the top finisher, placing 52nd overall in 27:47, followed by Tim Burke in 56th (27:55). Tom Kelly (28:23), John Korevec (28:26), and Sean Cournoyer (28:28) placed consecutive in 61st, 62nd, and 63rd, respectively. Also competing for Fordham were Tom Papain (68th - 28:58), Paul Szczepaniak (73rd - 29:21), Erik Lawrence (74th - 29:23), James Shields (78th - 29:46), Michael Walsh (79th - 29:46), Colin Chudzik (80th - 29:46), and Chris Granucci (83rd - 30:45).
On the women's side, Fordham placed four consecutive finishers from 35th to 38th.
Kelsey Komich came across the line first (20:47), followed by
Catalina Hallock (20:59),
Bridget Carroll (21:08), and
Jana Trenk (21:15).
Vanessa Spoto was just two spots behind in 40th (21:25), while
Deidre McPhillips (45th - 23:07), Daniela Hess (46th - 23:41), and
Madelyn Weingart (49th - 26:19).
The Rams will now held to Boston on Saturday, November 10th, to compete in the NCAA District Qualifier at Franklin Park.
