(December 9, 2002) - Fordham Baseball Coach Dan Gallagher announced the signing of two recruits today as the Rams signed infielder
Drew Adler (Farmingville, NY/Sachem HS North) and outfielder/pitcher
Javier Martinez (South Orange, NJ/Seton Hall Prep).
Adler, a senior at Sachem High School North, had an outstanding junior season, hitting .534 on the year scoring 31 runs for Sachem. An All-League, All-County, and BBF All-American selection at shortstop, he was selected to play in the Empire State Games and earned P.A.L. National MVP honors last season. Adler was also selected to the Junior Olympic Team this past summer.
Martinez, a senior at Seton Hall Prep, hit .323 as a junior, scoring 14 runs and having 20 hits. From the mound, he finished at 6-2 on the year with a 3.21 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings pitched. A First Team All-Area pitcher last season, Martinez is a member of the Seton Hall Prep chapter of the National and Spanish Honor Societies.
