Baseball Adds Jordan Lert to 2004 Recruiting Class

(December 11, 2002) - Fordham Baseball Coach Dan Gallagher announced the signing of one recruit today as the Rams signed infielder Jordan Lert (Westport, CT/Staples).

Lert joins Drew Adler (Farmingville, NY/Sachem HS North) and outfielder/pitcher Javier Martinez (South Orange, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) as Fordham baseball signees this fall.

Lert, a varsity letterwinner every year at Staples High School, will serve as team captain this season for Staples. He was an ALL-FCIAC selection in his junior year as he hit .483 last season, playing both shortstop and third base. He helped Staples to the 2001 Connecticut State Championship as a sophomore as he hit .421 on the year and was an All-FCIAC Honorable Mention. Lert played with current Fordham second baseman Kevin Brush on the 2001 State Championship team.

Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
