Softball Announces 2029 Recruiting Class

The 2029 recruiting class features talent from California, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut

BRONX, N.Y. – Bolstering the roster for the 2026 campaign, Head Coach Melissa Inouye unveiled the latest recruiting class for Fordham University Softball, featuring a quartet of new Rams for the upcoming season.

The 2029 recruiting class features talent from California, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, for a team that looks to remain a force to be reckoned with in the Atlantic 10 once again following a trip to the Title game a season ago.

"We are thrilled to welcome our 2029 recruiting class to the Ramily," said Coach Inouye. "This is a versatile group of student-athletes who have excelled at the high school and travel ball levels. Each of these four players brings unique strengths that will add quality depth both offensively, defensively and we believe they can help us continue competing for championships. We are excited to work with Sadira, Sydney, Morgan and Chloe, and to support their growth and success on and off the field as Rams."

Sadira Forcucci / Infield/Outfield / West Hartford, Conn.

One of two Nutmeg State products in the 2029 Softball recruiting class, Sadira Forcucci played all four years on the varsity team at Conard High School in West Hartford, Conn. Named a two-time all star, Forcucci earned All-CCC Conference honors and All-Academic honors her sophomore, junior, and senior campaigns, in addition to All-State honors her final two seasons.

Playing for Newtown Rock Gold Garvey on the club side, Forcucci was ranked the 92nd overall player in Line Drive Media 2025 Hot 100 Player Rankings . Forcucci is the second member of her family to don Maroon and White, as her father Frank, was an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator with Fordham Football during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns.

Forcucci on Why Fordham - " I chose Fordham because of the welcoming and successful feeling of the softball program and the school itself, and the endless connections and opportunities made possible by going to school in New York

Inouye on Forcucci - "Sadira will add valuable depth to our defense at multiple positions as she is a blue-collar player who plays the game hard. Offensively, she can produce both with good contact and power.

Sydney May / Pitcher/Utility / Mechanicsburg, PA

A three-time 6A Pennsylvania All-State selection, Sydney May joins the Rams as another top pitching prospect for the Rams out of the Quaker State in recent years, while providing further depth for the Rams as a hitter and playing the outfield as well. Named to the 2025 PennLive All-Century team her senior year, May was also named All-Sentinel Player of the Year the last two seasons and earned First-Team Mid-Penn Conference honors, to complete a career that saw her compile a Cumberland Valley High School record with 515 career strikeouts.

Playing all four seasons on the varsity squad, May played her club ball for VA Glory National Mertz-Griffith, the same team as current Ram Elizabeth Gaisior, who also hails from Pennsylvania. May will major in Business Administration at the Gabelli School of Business.

May on Why Fordham - "I chose Fordham because of the atmosphere it provided. When I went to camps and interacted with the players and coaches they had a family-oriented environment that I loved. New York City is my favorite place to visit, and I could imagine myself living there. Fordham has an amazing business school that I knew would provide a great education. It truly checked off all of my boxes, and I knew when I stepped on campus, it would be my new home! I am excited to get on campus and be with the softball team!! Go Rams!!"

Inouye on May - "Sydney is an athletic and versatile player who put together a very successful high school career. She brings the ability to contribute as a pitcher, hitter and outfielder and we look forward to seeing her compete."

Morgan Merzon / Outfield / Oakdale, Calif.

Playing on the varsity team at both Oakdale and Big Valley Christian High Schools in California, Morgan Merzon makes the trip across the country after setting numerous career and season records in her career. In 2023 at Oakdale, Merzon was named an All-League, All-District, and All-Sac-Joaquin Section C/O 2025, before being named Team MVP and taking All-League and All-District honors at Big Valley Christian her junior and senior years.

Setting the school single season record for stolen bases, Merzon also tallied the most runs scored in a single season, while tying her career home run record as well. Merzon intends to major in Communications.

Merzon on Why Fordham - "I chose Fordham because it checked every box on my list: high academics, legacy, strong athletics, out-of-state location, amazing post-graduate opportunities, a beautiful campus, four seasons, and even a football team. All of those things mattered—but what truly sealed the deal was the box I didn't know I needed until I experienced it: Fordham's culture. The culture that the coaching staff has built, where the moment you step on campus you become part of a family. A family where you are valued not just as an athlete or a student, but as a person. There is truly nothing like the Ramily—and that is why I chose Fordham.

Inouye on Merzon - "Morgan has good athleticism, combining size, length, and speed. She's a solid left-handed hitter and defensively she adds range and a strong arm in the outfield."

Chloe Trimindilis / Catcher/Infield / Danbury, Conn.

A four-year varsity starter at Danbury High School in Connecticut, Chloe Trimandilis joins the Rams after claiming FCIAC honors each season with the Hatters, including honorable mention her first two seasons, and earned a spot in the Sophomore All-Star game.

Receiving FCIAC First-Team honors her junior and senior campaign, her outstanding senior campaign saw her nab the CHSCA ALL State Softball Award, CHSCA ALL State Academic honors, an FCIAC Exemplary Scholar Athlete Award, Danbury High School Hall of Fame Female Athlete Award and Scholar Athlete Award, batting .521 on the year with over 100 hits.

Trimindilis on Why Fordham - "Fordham University stood out to me for several reasons. The atmosphere is incredibly vibrant and welcoming, fostering a sense of community that I immediately felt drawn to. The team connection is palpable, and the coaching staff impressed me with their personable approach and dedication to the athletes. Beyond the sports aspect, Fordham's commitment to providing a great education was a major factor, and the strong community and alumni network offered a supportive environment for future success. New York itself is a world of its own with limitless possibilities and I cannot wait to experience it all!

Inouye on Trimindilis - "Chloe is a skilled catcher who receives the ball well, manages the game and has a good arm. Her versatility will give us quality depth both behind the plate and in the infield and has the ability to produce offensively with contact and power."
