Women’s Soccer Set to Host Pair of Ivy League Opponents

Rams Welcome Columbia on Thursday, while Taking on Yale for Senior Day on Sunday

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 10, 2025) – Off to a 4-1-1 start, the Fordham women's soccer team welcomes a pair of Ivy League opponents to Moglia Stadium this week with Columbia coming to Rose Hill on Thursday with Yale in town on Sunday.  The Rams will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday with that ceremony at noon with the game to follow at 1:00 PM.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Rams posted its second straight win, knocking off FDU, 2-1, on Sunday.
  • With FDU up 1-0, The Rams evened the game on a goal from Julia Acosta, her first of the season, in the 50th minute.She won a battle with a defender, lifting a shot to the top of the net from 15 yards.
  • The game-winning goal came in the 90th minute, as Ava Giudice's cross from the right side of the box found Lena Johnsen, who re-directed the ball into the net for her second of the season.
  • Kyla King totaled six saves for the Rams, improving to 3-0 on the season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • For Thursday, Columbia is one of Fordham's longest running series opponents with the Lions leading the all-time series, 15-7.
  • The Lions have won the last five meetings with Fordham's last win coming in 2017.
  • On Sunday, Fordham and Yale meet for the sixth time.
  • Yale won the first four meetings, but Fordham pulled out a 3-2 win in last year's match in New Haven.Julia Acosta scored twice in the game, while Abby Borchers had the other tally.
 
THE OPPONENTS
  • Columbia is 1-4-1 on the year, picking up a 1-0 win over St. John's and a draw with La Salle in their last two games.
  • Krystal Medina leads Columbia with two goals and five points.
  • Yale enters the week 2-3 overall, and will play at Stony Brook on Thursday before Fordham on Sunday.
  • The Bulldogs have lost three straight with their previous contests being a 4-0 loss to #22 Kansas.
  • Vienna Lundstedt is the team's leading scorer with two goals and five points.

  • Ava Giudice has at least one point in five of the Rams' six games this season, and has the most points by a Fordham defender since Corey Dunfey in 2004 (10).
  • Giudice, Lena Johnsen, and Liina Tervo are now tied for the team lead in scoring at eight points.
  • The Rams are 4-1-1 for the second straight year.
  • The Rams are led by 2024 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Magnus Nilerud, who is in his fourth season at Rose Hill (23-27-10 at Fordham; 318-155-37 overall)
