Bronx, N.Y. – In the movie Major League II manager Lou Brown said "OK, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it's called 'two in a row'. And if we win again tomorrow, it's called a 'winning streak'... It has happened before!" The Fordham women's soccer team made it two in a row tonight with a 2-0 blanking of VCU in Atlantic 10 action at Moglia Stadium.
With the win, Fordham improves to 5-6-1 overall, 2-3-0 in the Atlantic 10, while VCU falls to 1-9-3 overall, 1-4-0 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, grad student Lina Müller got Fordham on the board early in the second as she took a cross from freshman
Edit Mare and headed it towards net where it deflected off a defender and into the net for her third goal of the year.
Seven minutes later,
Julia Acosta picked up the ball in the Fordham half of the field, started a run, dribbled all the way into the VCU box, where she got off a shot from ten yards out that easily beat the VCU keeper for her team-leading fourth tally of the year.
