EASTON, Pa. – Returning to the site of its best team finish from the spring season in 2023-24, the Fordham golf team opened play at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at Northampton Country Club.

As a team, the Rams shot 15 over, tied for eighth in the 16-team field. Sacred Heart sits atop the team leaderboard after playing its opening round in five over par. Jacob Moody of Le Moyne and Alex Elia of Holy Cross are tied for first on the individual leaderboard following opening-round 69s.

Freshman
Patrick Ginnity posted the second-best round of his collegiate career on Sunday, carding a one-under 71 to grab a share of sixth place, two shots behind the leaders. The Fitchburg, Mass., native was two under through 10 holes after making birdie on the par-3 13
th and the par-5 15
th.

Felix Luetke Meyring carded the Rams' second-best round of the day, shooting a one-over 73 to finish his first round in a tie for 17
th. The sophomore got off to a hot start, carding birdies on three of his first six holes.

Playing as an individual,
AJ DePaolo posted a five-over 77 to tie for 41
st.

Jake Mrva was one under through eight before a tough five-hole stretch led him to a 79 and a share of 63

Liam Howard carded an 80 to tie for 69
th while
Chris Konefal finished in 100
th after an opening-round 86.

The ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational is scheduled to wrap tomorrow with 18 holes beginning at 9:30 a.m.
