Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – Rallying down the stretch, under the lights at Bahoshy Field, Fordham University Softball downed UMass, 6-3, in the opening game of a three-game series Friday night.
Tacking on their first run of the day in their first turn at the dish, the Maroon and White pulled ahead in the opening frame as Eva Koratsis drove in Neleh Nogay on a sacrifice fly to deep right-centerfield. The Rams doubled their advantage in the bottom of the third, as Sydney Wells knocked a single through the right side to score Mikayla Swan.
UMass added a run back in the top of the fourth on a RBI single, and two more in the fifth to take the lead, but Fordham rallied in the bottom of the fifth with two runs scoring on a dropped fly ball off the bat of Koratsis, and Erin Hoppe made it 5-3 through five as Annie Sullivan scored as a pinch runner.
Adding one more run for good measure in the sixth Nicki Sudall tallied an RBI on a single to right, bringing home Swan for the second time on the night, setting the final tally, while Holly Beeman closed things out for her 13th win of the year in her 15th complete game of 2025.
The Rams and Minutewomen will play a doubleheader Sunday afternoon beginning at 12:00 p.m. with both games streaming live on ESPN+. Fordham's senior day ceremony will be held between games one and two.
