Box Score 2 DAYTON, Ohio. – Resuming a halted game from Friday afternoon in the top of the fourth inning Saturday, Fordham University Softball fell to Dayton 7-1, before bouncing back with a 8-0 run rule victory in the series finale in five innings.
From the start of the series at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Sydney Wells launched four home runs in less than a 24-hour span, knocking a pair of two-run shots in game one, before bopping two more in the finale Saturday to lead the offense on the weekend.
Dayton rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth when play resumed in game two, but neither side allowed a run the rest of the way as the Flyers took the game by six.
Scoring early and often in game three, Fordham tallied a pair of runs in the first including a solo shot from Wells to take a 2-0 lead after one. Eva Koratsis doubled the Rams' lead with a two-run single in the second, and Neleh Nogay added another two in the third on a single to left.
Tacking on her seventh and eighth RBIs of the weekend, Wells cranked a do-doubter to right field to set the final scoreline, as Emilee Watkins gave up just two hits in the circle, as Fordham run-ruled the Flyers in five innings.
Fordham Softball is back in action next weekend with their final home series of the year at Bahoshy Field, hosting UMass next Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
