Softball Head to Dayton for Three-Game Set

The Rams and Flyers square off Friday and Saturday on ESPN+

BRONX, N.Y. – Heading back out on the road for a three-game Atlantic 10 series, Fordham University Softball heads to Dayton Friday and Saturday.

The Rams and Flyers will play game one Friday at 4:00 p.m. and will begin game two 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. The sides will play until darkness, and resume play in game two on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. before playing game three 30 minutes after that. All games will stream live on ESPN+.

Looking to snap a five game losing streak after winning 10 in a row prior, Fordham (21-21, 11-6 A-10) fell to LIU in a single game last time out on Wednesday, 7-2. This weekend wraps a stretch that sees the Rams play eight of nine games on the road, with the game against the Sharks in the midweek being the only one held at Bahoshy Field over that span.

Boasting the second highest batting average of any team in the A-10, Fordham's offense leads the conference with 316 hits on the year, including 25 home runs, second best in the league. The Rams are led by Neleh Nogay who is batting .382 on the year, and sits third of all players in the nation in stolen bases this season, setting a new single season program record with her 37th last weekend.

The Rams have six players with at least 30 hits apiece, each batting .277 or better on the year, including Sydney Wells who paces the Rams in RBIs with 33, walks with 38, and OPS with a .691 slugging and .519 on base percentage, both top-three in the A-10. Bashing a team high 10 home-runs on the year, Wells has hit three in her last four games, and is followed closely in RBIs by Eva Koratsis and Nicki Sudall with 27 and 26 respectively.

In the circle, Holly Beeman leads the Maroon and White with an 11-5 record while posting a 2.28 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 107.2 innings pitched, ranked second in the conference in both wins and ERA. Beeman has tossed a complete game in 14 of 17 outings this season, 17th amongst all Division I players in complete games, while Emilee Watkins has picked up six wins in the circle, tossing seven complete games herself, totalling 65.1 innings pitched thus far, striking out 30 batters.

Behind the pitchers, Fordham is fourth in the A-10, ranked 58th nationally with a .969 fielding percentage as a team, and have turned 12 double plays on the year, also fourth best of any conference foe.

Dayton enters the weekend 20-14, 10-4 in league play, falling in a midweek bout against Ohio State Wednesday, 11-2, snapping a five game win streak after sweeping St. Bonaventure and Loyola Chicago. Emma Schutter leads the Flyers hitting .375 on the year with 42 hits and 33 runs scored.

The Rams and Flyers meet for the 63-65th meetings between the two sides this weekend, with Fordham holding a slim 32-30 edge in the all-time series. Dayton has won four of the last six games between the two sides including two out of three last season in The Bronx, with this weekend marking the first meeting in Buckeye State since the 2018 campaign.

Following the trip out to Ohio the Rams will have just six games and two opponents left on the docket in the 2025 regular season, hosting their final home series Apr. 26-27 against UMass at Bahoshy Field.
