BERLIN, Md.  – The Fordham golf team opened its spring season this weekend by finishing sixth at the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona at Rum Pointe Golf Course in Berlin, Md.

As a team, Fordham finished 15 over for the tournament, six shots back of A-10 foe La Salle in fifth. The Rams jumped from 11th after the opening round to sixth thanks to a two-under effort by the team on Saturday. Fairfield won the team title at nine under.Â

The Stags' Peter Crowe (-5) claimed medalist honors after going 70-69 over his two rounds.Â

Senior standout
Jake Mrva paced the Rams at Rum Pointe, shooting a three-under 69 on Saturday to finish the tournament at even par and grab a share of 11
th place on the individual leaderboard.

Patrick Ginnity (77-71) and
AJ DePaolo (74-74) each finished at four over for the event in a tie for 29
th.

Felix Luetke Meyring (77-72) finished one shot behind Ginnity and DePaolo in a tie for 36
th.

After a Friday 76,
Liam Howard shot a Saturday 74 to grab a share of 44
th.

Tucker Silva (78-75) bested his Friday round by three strokes to round out the Rams' efforts in Maryland.

Fordham will return to action next weekend at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa. Last year at the event, Mrva claimed his second individual title of the academic year with a final-round 67.
