Washington, D.C. – (March 19, 2025) – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its Indoor Track and Field All-Academic and All-Rookie teams on Tuesday with 54 student-athletes recognized. Six of those 54 were Fordham Rams, as
Njam Abdul-Latif and
Sara Labor were named to the All-Rookie Team, while
Rodolfo Sanchez,
Sean Reidy,
Ben Borchers, and
Katarina Birimac earned All-Academic honors.
The All-Academic team honored student-athletes for their contributions in athletics and academics. Eligible student-athletes were at least a sophomore and maintained a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 and was voted upon by the league's communication directors.
The All-Rookie team was composed of student-athletes who competed in their first season of indoor track and field, and who registered the top mark in each category from the start of the season through the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship, which was held on Feb. 28 to March 1. The top marks in each indoor track and field category were based on results from the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
Abdul-Latif earned All-Rookie Team status in both the 60- and 200-meter dash events, as he set the school record in both events at 6.81 and 21.00 seconds, respectively. He was the Atlantic 10 champion in both events, setting a new Atlantic 10 Championship meet record in the 200-meter dash at 21.17 seconds. He was awarded the Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Rookie Performer Award, becoming the fourth Ram to receive that honor. During the season, Abdul-Latif received the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Award, a league record five times.
Labor was named to the All-Rookie Team in the 500-meter event. Her best time came at the Metropolitan Championship, where she was the MET champion in 1:15.71. She qualified for the finals of the 500 meters at the Atlantic 10 Championship with a time of 1:16.75 but was injured during the final race and did not place.
A Finance major, Sanchez made the indoor track & field Academic All-Conference team for the second consecutive year. The three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll had an incredible indoor season, finishing as the Atlantic 10, IC4A, and Metropolitan champion in the mile run. In addition to his three gold medals in the mile, he set a new program mark in the mile at 4:02.86 at the Sander Scorcher Meet in January. He was also a part of the Rams' distance medley relay that was the Metropolitan and Atlantic 10 champion and the 4x800 relay that grabbed bronze at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Reidy, who is studying Psychology and is a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, was a member of the Atlantic 10 champion distance medley relay at 9:52.44. He also picked up the silver medal in the mile run (4:09.50) and a bronze medal in the 4x800 relay at the conference championship. Additionally, Reidy was the Metropolitan champion in the 1,000 meters and the distance medley relay.
Borchers, an Urban Studies major and a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, was a bronze medalist at the Atlantic 10 Championship in the 4x800 relay (7:35.12), while scoring sixth in the 800-meter run at 1:53.57. Earlier in the year, he was the Metropolitan champion as a part of the 4x800 relay, while being the silver medalist in the 1,000 meters.
Birimac, a graduate student studying Medieval Studies, won the 5,000-meter run at the Atlantic 10 Championship in 16:36.01, while taking bronze in the 3,000-meter run in 9:46.26. Additionally, she was the Metropolitan champion in the 1,000 meters and mile run, while being the silver medalist in the mile run at the ECAC Championship (4:46.75).
