Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham men's basketball head coach
Mike Magpayo announced today the signing of
Hassan Koureissi to the 2026-27 Rams' squad.
"Hassan is exactly the type of young man we want as a Fordham basketball student-athlete," said Magpayo. "He is a great kid, comes from a program that has won three straight CHSAA championships, and is a New Yorker who wanted to stay home. He brings great length and skill at the point guard position. Hassan has innate leadership qualities and an unselfish nature his teammates will love."

Koureissi, a 6-3, 170-pound guard, is entering his senior season at Archbishop Stepinac this winter after leading the Crusaders to the CHSAA "AA" City Championship in each of the past three years in Fordham's historic Rose Hill Gym.
Last year, Koureissi appeared in all 30 games for the Crusaders who finished 26-4 overall, and 14-1 in league play. He averaged 11.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 48.6 percent from the field.
In the CHSAA vs. PSAL Championship game last year, a game won by Stepinac over Jefferson, 69-67, Koureissi scored 15 points and added seven rebounds and two assists to be named the game's MVP.
Playing with the PSA Cardinals organization throughout Nike's Peach Jam this summer, Koureissi averaged 9.0 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He also earned second team honors on the 2025 Nike IS8 All-Tournament Team.
Koureissi is the Industry's No. 180 overall player and Rivals' No. 9-ranked player in the state of New York.
Archbishop Stepinac enters the 2025-26 season ranked number one in the nation in the Maxpreps preseason rankings and number six in the BallIsLife FAB 50 National Rankings.
Koureissi comes from a basketball family. His brother, Souleymane played at Richmond, and his other brother Oumar is a senior at Texas Southern.
