Women’s Soccer Readies for Final Week of A-10 Play

Rams Looking to Secure A-10 Playoff Spot with Games Against Saint Louis and George Washington

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 22, 2025) – The final week of the women's soccer regular season has arrived and there is plenty to play for as conference play comes to a close.  With the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship a week away, the Fordham Rams still have work to do with two matches remaining.
 
Fordham (9-5-2, 4-3-1 A10) sits in a tie for sixth place in the standings at 13 points with La Salle.  The Rams finish the regular season with a home match against Saint Louis (12-3-1, 7-1 A10) on Thursday, while traveling to George Washington (4-8-4, 1-6-1 A10) on Sunday.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • It took 88 minutes, but the Fordham women's soccer team got a moment of brilliance from Lena Johnsen to earn a 1-0 shutout win over the George Mason Patriots on Sunday
  • Johnsen drove down the middle of the field and launched a 20-yard shot to the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Thursday is the 11th all-time meeting between Fordham and Saint Louis with the Billikens having a 6-4 edge in the series.
  • The two teams have not played each other since 2019 and nine of the ten all-time meetings were shutouts for the victor.
  • Sunday will be the 23rd meeting between the Rams and Revolutionaries with the series tied a 8-8-6.
  • Fordham defeated George Washington, 2-0, at Moglia Stadium last season on goals by Abby Borchers and Julia Acosta.
 
THE OPPONENTS
  • Saint Louis, the seven-time defending A-10 champion, are coming off a 4-1 victory at Rhode Island on Sunday.
  • Julia Simon (6 goals) and Izzy Luebbert (3 goals, 6 assists) led the Billikens in scoring with 12 points each.
  • Emma Parker has started all 16 games in goal, posting a 0.89 goals against average with six shutouts.
  • George Washington is coming off a 1-1 draw at Richmond on Sunday and will face Davidson on Thursday before seeing Fordham on Sunday.
  • Elizabeth Cruz is the team's leading scorer with three goals and two assists for eight points.
  • Kate Silverstein has seen the majority of time in goal, starting 14 games with a 1.92 goals against average and two shutouts.

  • Liina Tervo currently leads the Rams in goals (10) and points (24).On October 12th, she became the seventh Ram to reach 20 goals and 50 points in her career.
  • With her goal against George Mason, Lena Johnsen set a new career-high in scoring with 12 points.
  • The Rams have four players with at least 10 points this season in Liina Tervo (24), Lena Johnsen (12), Ava Giudice (11), and Renata Mercedes (10).That has not happened for Fordham since 2006 with Katie Sanchez (30), Leah Jerome (27), Haley Lentsch (22) and Erica Frizzell (11).
  • Fordham is third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 1.875 goals per game.
  • The Rams are led by 2024 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Magnus Nilerud, who is in his fourth season at Rose Hill (28-31-11 at Fordham; 323-159-38 overall)

  • Based on this week's results, the Rams look to be a part of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship which will be held at campus sites from October 31st through November 9th.
