Women’s Soccer Hits Road for Two A-10 Match-Ups

Rams Head to Rhode Island on Thursday Night & Davidson on Sunday

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 1, 2025) – The Fordham women's soccer team looks to stay on a roll after two conference wins last week, as the Rams hit the road for two more Atlantic 10 matches against Rhode Island on Thursday and Davidson on Sunday.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Fordham Rams (7-3-1, 2-1 A-10) shut out the Richmond Spiders, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Moglia Stadium.
  • The lone marker of the contest came in the 69th minute. Ava Giudice cut in toward goal, placing a shot to the near post that Richmond goalkeeper Veronica Rrapi made the save on.However, the rebound was loose and knocked into the back of the net by Liina Tervo for her ninth goal of the season.
  • Kyla King was credited with four saves for the Rams for her first shutout of the season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Thursday will be the 29th all-time meeting between Fordham and Rhode Island with the Fordham ahead in the series at 13-11-4.
  • Rhode Island won last year's meeting by a 2-0 score at Moglia Stadium.
  • Sunday is the 10th meeting for the Rams and Wildcats with Fordham having the 6-1-2 edge in the series.
  • The squads played to a 1-1 draw last year with Fordham's Liina Tervo scoring the game-tying goal in the 70th minute.
 
THE OPPONENTS
  • Rhode Island is out to an 8-3 record in 2025 with a 2-1 mark in the Atlantic 10.
  • McKenna Sylvester is URI's leading scorer with six goals and 13 points, while Lauren MacDonald is second with three goals and four assists for ten points.
  • Dani Eden has gotten most of the play in goal, posting six shutouts and allowing just six goals in 11 games for a 0.59 goals against average.
  • Davidson is 6-3-1 on the year, 2-1 in the A-10, and will play Saint Joseph's on Thursday night.
  • Sophia Widdon is the team's top scorer with four goals and two assists for ten points.
  • The Wildcats have split the goalkeeping duties between Allie Moore and Grace Stair.Moore is 1-1-1 with a 0.67 GAA in six appearances, while Stair is 5-2-0 with a 1.00 GAA in 10 appearances.
 
NEWS & NOTES
  • Liina Tervo was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, after netting three goals and an assist in two Fordham wins.
  • Tervo currently leads the Rams in goals (9) and points (20), while being second in the Atlantic 10 in both categories.  She also moved up the Fordham career lists into a tie for seventh on Fordham's career goals list with Jessica Widmann (19 - 2011-15), while her 48 career points are now eighth, passing Beth Purcell (47 – 2001-04).
  • Ava Giudice has found the scoresheet with a goal or an assist in seven of the Rams' 11 matches.  Fordham is 6-0-1 when she records a point.
  • Kyla King recorded her seventh career shutout against Richmond.
  • Fordham is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging just over two goals per game.
  • The Rams are led by 2024 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Magnus Nilerud, who is in his fourth season at Rose Hill (26-29-10 at Fordham; 321-157-37 overall)
