Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – Playing the rubber game of a three game series Sunday afternoon, Fordham University Softball fell to Saint Louis 12-3.
Saint Louis would take the lead early with a pair of runs in the top of the first, forcing the Rams to work from behind in the rubber game of the series. Fordham would plate its first run of the day on an RBI groundout in the third. The Billikens would post eight runs in the fourth inning to break open a nine run lead, to take the win.
Neleh Nogay and Eva Koratsis would tally the three Fordham RBIs on the afternoon, with Koratsiss leaving the year with her fourth home run of the season in the fourth.
With a pair of runs right out of the gates, the Billikens would take a 2-0 lead with two runs in the opening frame, and would keep the Rams off the board for the first two innings of game three. Neleh Nogay would tally the first run of the day for Fordham with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the third, as the Rams cut the deficit in half.
Rallying for eight runs in the fourth inning, Saint Louis would break open a 10-1 lead, but the Rams would go right back to work with a bloop and a blast to start the bottom of the frame and add two runs back. The Billikens however would record a two-run home run of their own in the top of the fifth to take a 12-3 lead where they would see out a nine-run win to take the series two games to one.
The Rams will close the 2024 regular season this weekend when they head to the Windy City for a three game series at Loyola Chicago, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m Eastern, followed by a single game at the same time Sunday afternoon.
