Box Score

OLEAN, N.Y. (Apr. 21, 2024) – Scoring early and often Sunday afternoon, Fordham University softball claimed its second straight A-10 series win with a 17-1 victory at St. Bonaventure.

When it was all said and done, 11 different Rams would record a hit on the afternoon, as all nine starters and two pinch hitters notched a hit, part of 16 hits by the Rams as a team. In addition, nine different players drove in a run, and 10 different batters would come around to score a run, along with drawing eight walks from seven Rams.

One of five players with two hits on the day, Nicki Sudall would lead the way with four RBIs, one of five players with multiple runs driven in. Getting the start in right field, Mikayla Swan would come around to score three times to lead the team alongside Gianna Sarlo.

Not to be overlooked on the defensive end, Olivia Simcoe would take her second win of the weekend, throwing just 76 pitches across five innings of work, giving up three hits and only allowing a single run.

The Rams would plate a trio of runs right out of the gates with and RBI single from Enoch scoring Neleh Nogay, before Swan came home on a throwing error at second to give the Rams an early lead. That advantage would hold until a big fourth inning for the visitors that would see Fordham score nine runs in the frame.

Eva Koratsis would get the rally started with a two run double to right field, followed by a Michaela Carter double to the opposite side of the field to extend the lead to seven. After a run was forced in, the Rams would make it 9-0 with an RBI groundout, ahead of a bases clearing three run double for Sudall to break open a 12-1 lead through four, as the Bonnies plated a single run in the bottom of the fourth.

Going back to work with the bats quickly in the fifth, the Rams would plate four runs on three singles including a two run basehit by Allie Clark, before a Sudall sac fly made it 17-1, and with the run rule in affect, Simcoe would see out the bottom of the fifth to give the Rams their second A-10 series win of the week.

Fordham Softball heads to Hofstra Wednesday for a single game against the Pride at 4:00 p.m. in Hempstead.
